It’s Almost Fall, So Consider This Your Sign to Get Cozy

At the time of writing this article, it’s September 4th and currently 89 degrees here in South Florida. So outside, it’s still very much summer.

However, since September 1st, my mind has been on the “ber” months. And judging by what I’ve been seeing on social media; I feel like a lot of people are already in that same mindset and ready for fall.

It’s almost fall get cozy

Going back to the “ber” months, if you don’t know what this is, it’s basically the months that end in “ber”: September, October, November, and December. AKA the stretch of the year when everything starts to feel a little cozier and we get the beginning of so many seasonal activities, traditions, holidays, and celebrations.

Although fall doesn’t technically start until September 22nd, I’m ringing in the season a little early and leaning into all of the cozy, slower paced characteristics that come with this time of year. I’m romanticizing the quieter evenings, comfy clothes, seasonal drinks, movie nights, and all of those little things that make the season feel extra special.

And if you’re in the same boat as me, here are some cozy and easy ways to start getting ready for the fall season.

Put On Something Comfy

Bring out the oversized sweatshirts, matching lounge sets, fuzzy socks, leggings, cardigans, and anything else that immediately makes you want to curl up on the couch.

Plus, this late summer to early fall transition is perfect for easing into your fall wardrobe too. You don’t necessarily have to pull out the chunky sweaters just yet. Especially if it’s still warm where you live. But you can start incorporating lighter sweaters and more fall inspired outfits into your day to day wardrobe.

Clean Out Your Closet

I know cleaning probably doesn’t sound like the coziest fall activity, but hear me out…

The beginning of a new season is such a good excuse to go through your closet and get rid of the things you no longer wear.

Put away some of your summer pieces. Bring your sweaters and jackets toward the front. And donate anything you’ve been holding onto for years but never actually wear anymore or have simply outgrown.

And if you want to take this a step further, you can give the rest of your home a little seasonal reset too.

Throw away old mail and those random miscellaneous things that somehow start piling up around the house (for me, it’s old mail). Wipe down dusty areas, clean out your refrigerator, vacuum behind furniture, and finally tackle some of those deeper cleaning tasks you’ve probably been putting off.

Especially if you’re planning on spending more time inside during the fall and winter months, you want your home to feel as cozy, comfortable, and peaceful as possible. And the easiest way to create that cozy feeling is simply starting with a clean space.

Order the Pumpkin Spice Latte

Order the pumpkin spice latte.

Or chai. Or apple crisp. Or whatever seasonal drink you actually like.

When it comes to fall drinks, pumpkin spice is basically the poster child for the season in the same way lemonade feels like summer.

So if you love pumpkin spice, go get yourself a pumpkin spice latte. Try it iced or hot. Or use this time to start recreating some seasonal drinks and recipes at home.

I know for me, I’m constantly scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram  looking at recipes. And there are a few that I’ve saved and hopefully plan on recreating this fall.

Pumpkin cream cheese muffins, pumpkin pancakes, and apple turnovers are currently at the top of my list.

So start collecting some fall themed recipes that catches your eye. And use it as inspo for things you want to make this season.

Light a Scented Candle

This might genuinely be one of the easiest ways to change the entire vibe of your space.

Light something that smells like vanilla, cinnamon, apple, pumpkin, warm woods, coffee, or whatever scent immediately reminds you of fall.

Even if it’s still 85 degrees outside, a fall candle, a clean room, and the AC turned down just a little bit can convince me otherwise.

Binge Watch Your Comfort Show

Fall is prime comfort show season.

So get cozy and put on a show or movie you love, even if it’s something you’ve already watched multiple times.

And if you’re more of a book person, grab a book, get comfortable, and have yourself a cozy reading night instead.

If you’re anything like me and somehow spend 30 minutes at the end of the night scrolling through streaming services trying to decide what to watch; I highly recommend creating a movie watchlist ahead of time.

Whenever you see a movie or show that looks good, add it to your list. Then when you’re actually in the mood to watch something, you already have a bunch of options to choose from instead of spending half the night searching.
