Looking for Creative Friendsgiving Ideas? Try an Alphabet Potluck
If you and your friends are planning a Friendsgiving this year and have no idea who is bringing what, I have a fun idea for you: an alphabet potluck!

My friends and I actually tried this for our own Friendsgiving, and it made planning the menu way more fun. Instead of everyone just saying, “I’ll bring a side,” or accidentally bringing five different desserts, we decided to make our Friendsgiving menu into a little game.
Here’s how it works.
How to Do an Alphabet Friendsgiving Potluck
With an alphabet potluck, each guest gets a letter of the alphabet and has to bring a food or drink that starts with that letter.
You can make it completely random by using a random letter generator and having each guest pick a letter. Whatever letter they get is the letter they have to work with.
Or, if you want to make things a little easier, you can let everyone choose their own letter and bring something that starts with it.
Our Friendsgiving Alphabet Potluck
For our Friendsgiving, my friends and I picked our own letters for the alphabet potluck. And honestly, it worked out so well! Check out the video below that my friend Aimee captured from that night.
I picked the letter C and brought chicken wings and cups. A few other people also picked C, which goes to show that more than one person can pick the same letter.
One person brought cake, while someone else brought collard greens and cornbread. So even though we had several people with the same letter, everyone still brought different dishes.
Another one of my friends picked H and brought ham. She also let us use her home for the party, so she was basically coming through with the food and the venue!
Why You Should Try an Alphabet Friendsgiving Potluck
If you’re looking for a Friendsgiving potluck theme that’s a little different from the usual “everyone bring a side dish” setup, this is such a great option.
It gives everyone a little challenge without making things too complicated. Plus, it’s really fun to see what everyone comes up with once they get their letter.
