What to Wear to Animal Kingdom: Disney Outfit Ideas

Wondering what to wear to Animal Kingdom? If you’re planning a Disney trip soon and need Animal Kingdom outfit ideas, I’ve got you covered. Arguably, Animal Kingdom is one of my favorite Disney parks. As someone who loves being outdoors, I absolutely love the lush scenery, all the greenery, and the more laid back vibe compared to parks like Magic Kingdom. It also has some of the coolest attractions, like Pandora: World of Avatar and Kilimanjaro Safari.

Since you’ll likely be doing a lot of walking in the Florida heat, putting together the right Animal Kingdom outfit is all about finding pieces that are cute, breathable, and comfortable. So keep reading for these simple tips and outfit ideas.

What to Wear to Animal Kingdom

What to Wear to Animal Kingdom for Ultimate Comfort

When it comes to any theme park, one of the biggest tips for planning your outfit; is prioritizing comfort, and the same goes for Animal Kingdom. Wear something that feels comfortable to you and that you can easily walk around the park in, especially since you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors.

Florida weather is usually hot and humid, so as you’re walking around the park and dealing with the heat, wearing breathable and comfortable clothing makes a huge difference during those long park days.

Whether you prefer biker shorts, a skirt, or long pants, wear whatever fits your style and comfort level. And if you’re planning to wear a dress, make sure it’s not too long or too short so you can easily hop on and off different rides comfortably and quickly.

Best Shoes for Animal Kingdom

Wearing comfortable shoes is super duper important, because you’re going to be walking A LOT. You can easily hit 10,000 to 15,000 steps in a day! Plus, the ground at Animal Kingdom is designed with lots of texture, which is why I highly recommend wearing cushioned shoes.

From my past experiences, I’ve found that sneakers with a narrow front, like Converse and Vans, tend to make my feet hurt after a while. So go with athletic sneakers that have memory foam or extra cushioning for extra support. Even strap sandals that have cushions are also great options if you don’t want to wear sneakers.

Pack for Orlando Weather

When planning your outfit for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, it’s important to keep Orlando weather in mind. In true Florida fashion, the weather can be pretty unpredictable and can vary depending on what time of year you’re visiting.

If you’re going between late December and early February, temperatures can be a bit cooler, so you may want to pack a light sweater or jacket. If you’re visiting during the spring or summer months, it tends to be hot, humid, and sometimes rainy, so you’ll want to wear clothes that keep you cool and comfortable. It’s also a good idea to pack a poncho just in case it rains.

Animal Kingdom Outfit Ideas: Lean into the Theme

Similar to how Disney’s Magic Kingdom, leans into fairytales and princesses; for your animal Kingdom outfit, lean into animal print and nature theme colors.

Animal Prints: You can easily do this through your shirt, pants, or even through your accessories like Mickey ears. Just have fun with your leopard, cheetah, or zebra print!

Nature Inspired Colors: Earth tones like olive green, khaki, tan, and cream really fits the nature theme of animal Kingdom

Comfortable Accessories for the Sun

Comfortable accessories, like a baseball hat and sunglasses are some other essentials that you might want to pack for your park day.

Don’t Forget to Apply (and Reapply) Sunscreen

Last but not least, don’t forget to wear sunscreen on your trip to Animal Kingdom! You will be spending the vast majority of your time outdoors, walking throughout the park and through different attractions.

You really want to keep your skin protected so you aren’t leaving with a nasty sunburn souvenir. So keep a travel-sized sunscreen in your bag so you can reapply throughout the day.

Disney Animal Kingdom Dress Code & Rules

Although Animal Kingdom doesn’t have a particular dress code, the Disney World website has the following guideline on what not to wear to the parks. Inappropriate attire can result in you not getting admitted or even kicked out of the park, so keep these rules in mind while packing:
