61 Fantastic Ideas For Your Summer Bucket List

Summer is right around the corner! and if you’re looking for ideas to add to your summer bucket list. Or, if you’ve never made one before and want some fun and easy ideas to get you started, keep on reading.

Summer bucket list

Ever since I was in high school, and especially during college summer breaks, I’ve loved summertime. It felt like two months of relaxing and “rotting,” with no classes, no homework, and so much free time on my hands.

One thing that really helped me to be more intentional with how I spent my summers was creating a summer bucket list. Because honestly, summer break flies by so fast. You blink, and suddenly it’s back-to-school season.

That’s why I love summer bucket lists. They help romanticize your summer, limit doomscrolling, and give you something fun to look forward to. When you have a list of ideas ready to go, it’s much easier to pick something and do it. Instead of sitting around wondering, “What should I do today?” So without further ado, here are 61 of my fav ideas for your summer bucket list.

Summer Bucket List

1. Vlog Your Day

Ok, so first up on this summer bucket list, is vlogging your day. If you’re on YouTube and love watching vlogs or “day in my life” videos, why not recreate one for yourself?

Whether you’re filming a chill day at home or a day out doing something fun, just take little clips throughout the day, do a bit of editing, and turn it into a cute vlog style video.

2. Go to a Summer Fair

If you have a fair coming to town, consider checking it out. Even if you’re not really a ride person, you can still go for the vibes. And if you’re like me, you can go for the food (lol).

3. Create a Summer Playlist

This is one of my favorite, and may I add, FREE summer bucket list ideas. Which is to create a summer playlist. Add some of your current favorite songs and most importantly, some summer themed songs; and let it become the soundtrack of your summer 2026.

4. Go Roller Skating

If you know how to roller skate and have a roller skating rink near you, go check it out. If you don’t have a rink nearby but you do have roller skates, you can always skate at a park or outside. Either way, it’s a fun and classic summer activity that you can add to your bucket list.

5. Read a Book Outside

Get outside and “touch some grass’ is my motto for this summer. A great way to do that is by sitting outside and reading a book. This is perfect if you already love to read. But it’s also great if one of your summer goals is to start reading more.

Being outside gives you a little vitamin D boost, helps your energy, and can make reading feel more enjoyable and motivating.

I’ve linked one of my articles below on how to get back into reading. Especially if you haven’t read for leisure in a while and want to actually enjoy it. If you’re interested, be sure to check it out!

6. Try Waking up at 5 a.m. for a Week

You’ve probably heard many people talk about waking up at 5 a.m, and how it helps boost their productivity and energy. If that routine sounds interesting to you, try it out for a week.

This is especially great if you’re someone who usually sleeps in during the summer. So this will be a nice little challenge. And at the end of the challenge, you can see how your body feels and whether it’s something you’d want to keep in your routine.

7. Spend a Day at the Beach

I’m so grateful to live near a beach, and if you have one near you, consider yourself lucky. With that in mind, spending a day at the beach is a classic summer bucket list idea.

And honestly, with the summer sun and heat, you don’t even have to stay all day. You can go for a few hours in the morning, head out in the late afternoon, or even go in the evening.

8. Watch the Sunset at the Beach

Speaking of beaches, if you want to savor the beachy vibes, stay until the late evening and watch the sunset. Since the sun sets in the west, if you’re facing that direction, you’re almost guaranteed a beautiful view. It’s such a peaceful way to end the day. And it’s perfect for taking a few beach photos too.

9. Go on a Solo Date

If you’ve never heard of a solo date before, it’s basically a date but with yourself. The whole idea of a solo date is to treat yourself with care, practice self love, and romanticize an activity you’re doing alone.

It’s about being intentional with your time, enjoying your own company, and getting to know yourself on a deeper level. Think of it like taking yourself out and being happy and comfortable spending time with you.

There are so many solo date activities you can try, and honestly, it’s not as awkward or scary as it might seem. When you go out by yourself, it can feel like everyone is watching you. But most people are truly just minding their own business. In fact, solo dates can be really empowering.

Some of my favorite solo date ideas include getting dressed up and going to the movies or going out to a restaurant. However, there are lots of solo dates that you can do right at home. So check out the article linked to below for my list of at-home solo date ideas.

11. Walk 10,000 Steps Every Day for a Week

Walking 10,000 steps a day is a trend that’s still super popular in the health and fitness niche. Many people swear by it, and I get it! Walking is a great low impact cardio exercise, it gets your heart moving, helps you stretch, and lets you enjoy your surroundings.

So, consider challenging yourself to walk 10,000 steps every day for a week. To make it more fun, you can change up your route and do things like:

  • Walk at the mall
  • Explore a nature park
  • Stroll through your neighborhood
  • Walk to nearby spots instead of driving.

12. Go Fishing

I’ve never been fishing myself, but it looks like such a cool, simple, and chill activity. If you enjoy being outdoors and relaxing by the water, definitely add fishing to your summer bucket list.

13. Go Thrifting

Now thrifting… is something I know a lot about and absolutely love doing. There’s something so fun about finding unique clothes and pieces that you wouldn’t normally see in regular retail stores. Especially when you get them for half off, or even 80% off the regular price.

14. Try a New Hobby

If you’re trying to get into your “hobby era,” you’re definitely not alone. The thing about hobbies, though, is that they can sometimes feel expensive. Require a lot of materials. Or they might feel like something you have to finish all at once. Which can be a bit challenging depending on your mood or your day.

That’s why I put together a list of lazy low energy hobbies that you can start right now. From working on a puzzle to coloring, there are plenty of simple ways to explore a new hobby. Check out the link below for my full list of “lazy hobbies.”

15. Take Pictures With a Disposable or Digital Camera

Another great summer activity is grabbing a disposable or digital camera at the beginning of the season. And taking photos throughout the summer months. Then, at the end of summer, develop the photos and keep them as memories from your summer 2026.

16. Get up Early and Watch the Sunrise

There’s just something about waking up early. There’s still that morning dew in the air and the world feels a little quieter. If you love that feeling, get up early one day and watch the sunrise.

17. Buy Yourself Flowers

Whether you love sunflowers, roses, or a beautiful mixed bouquet, buy yourself some flowers. This is something I love to do, especially when I have an extra $10 to spare in my grocery budget. I’ll usually stop by the floral section and grab a small bouquet just to brighten up my day.

18. Go to a Strawberry Farm

One of my favorite things about summer is that there are so many seasonal outdoor activities to enjoy. A great one to try is strawberry picking. If you have a strawberry farm near you, consider going and picking some fresh strawberries.

For me, it’s all about the experience. Being on the farm, walking through the rows, and picking the really red and ripe ones. When I get home, I make sure to clean them really well using baking soda or vinegar to remove any dirt and impurities, and then I get to munching.

19. Go to a Farmers Market

Speaking of strawberries, another great idea is going to a farmers market. Not only will you find vendors selling fresh and in-season fruits. But you’ll also come across artisanal items like cookies, different types of baked goods, and some really cute handmade crafts.

20. Have a Beach Photoshoot

If you love the beach, or you’re already spending a day there, don’t forget to do a little beach photoshoot. This is especially perfect during sunset when you can get that golden, sun kissed glow in your pictures.

Unique Summer Bucket List

21. Have a Spa Day

Whether you’re doing it in the daytime or a night, make time for a spa day. You can do a face mask, take a “everything shower”, play some music, and put on some comfy PJs or lounge clothes.

22. Paint Something

For an arts and crafts activity, try painting! One of my favorite ways to do this is by following a Bob Ross painting tutorial and seeing how closely I can recreate his painting. Of course, you can follow any painting tutorial you like, or just freestyle and create whatever comes to mind on your canvas.

23. Have a Late Night Movie Marathon

Alright, raise your hand if you’re a night owl? If that’s you, this one’s for you! Stay up late and have a movie marathon.

This is especially fun if you’re watching movies with sequels, so you can go from part one to part two, and if you’re still awake, even part three. One of my favorite movie series to do this with is Shrek. It’s honestly one of my all time favorites, and no matter how many times I watch it, it’s still so funny and entertaining.

24. Host a Summer Party

If you love to host and plan gatherings, throw a summer party. Whether it’s a pool party; a summer camp themed party; or even an end of summer celebration; there are so many fun party themes and ideas you can recreate.

25. Challenge Yourself to a No Screen Day

Alright, this one might be a little challenging, but try a no screen day. Meaning, no phones. No tablets. And no TV. Use this time to detox from all your screen time. Go outside, read, write, or just do something that doesn’t involve any technology.

Trust me, you’ll be surprised at how much you can accomplish. How creative you can get. And how much free time you have, when it’s not spent scrolling or watching TV.

26. Go to a Water Park

If you have a water park nearby, make a trip there this summer. It’s such a fun way to cool off in the summer heat. Personally, I’m not really a waterpark type of gal, so you’ll usually find me floating and relaxing in the lazy river.

But if you love waterparks, take full advantage. Try out the different slides and enjoy all the pool areas they have to offer.

27. Go on a Nature Walk

If you love the sound of birds chirping, leaves crunching under your feet, and the gentle breeze around you, go on a nature walk.

28. Deep Clean Your Space

You know how there’s spring cleaning? For summer, try a summer deep clean. This can include cleaning your bedroom, bathroom, and other areas of your home. You can also use this time to declutter and organize your closet.

29. Get a summer manicure

If you like getting your nails done, go for a summer themed manicure. You can find a lot of cute summer nail inspo online, so that you can show your nail tech. And if you’re doing your nails at home, look for some easy summer nail ideas you can recreate on your own. Another great option is just getting some nail press ons.

30. Go to the Movie Theater

During the summer, there are so many new movies that come out in theaters. If there’s a new movie that you’ve been anticipating, head to the theater and watch it. This year, I’m especially excited to see Toy Story 5 and the new Spider Man movie.

37. Have a Paint and Sip Party

Paint and sip parties have become really popular over the past few years, and they’re honestly so easy and versatile to recreate. And if you’re looking for a summer party idea, this is a great option.

From painting canvases to flower pots or even tote bags, there are so many things you and your friends can paint together. For the “sip” part, you can serve summer drinks like lemonade, iced tea, mocktails, or cocktails (if everyone’s 21+).

I’ve written a more detailed article on how to plan a paint and sip party, so check the link below if you’re interested.

38. Host a Christmas in July Party

Another creative summer party idea is a Christmas in July party. Which is basically a mix of Christmas and summer vibes.

For example, instead of hot cocoa you can serve chocolate milk. Instead of serving a turkey, go for a rotisserie or roasted chicken. Decorate with plenty of Christmas decorations and play Christmas music to really tie in the “Christmas-y” theme.

39. Swim in the Pool

Whenever I think of summer, I think of pools and water based fun. If you have a pool at home; access to a community pool; or a friend with a pool; spend a day swimming and lounging in the water.

46. Get a Slushie

I love getting slushies at my local 7-Eleven, and if you love them too, go treat yourself to one. You can get a slushy by yourself, but I’d highly recommend going with a friend. (Especially if you’re looking for fun things to do with friends)

Or you can even bake some brownies.

Visit an aquarium and enjoy some beautiful marine life. If there’s no aquarium nearby, or if that’s not your thing, you could also visit a museum or a zoo instead.

53. Start Journaling

A few years ago, I got back into journaling, and it has honestly been one of the best things I’ve done. It helps me to slow down my days, clear my thoughts, and use it like a personal diary. Now, when I read my older journal entries, I can look back and see my mindset and what I was going through at the time. If you’re interested in capturing your memories and having something personal to reflect on, start journaling.

54. Go on a Picnic

Whether it’s with friends, family, or by yourself, a picnic is such a nice spring and summer activity. Since the sun is stronger during the summer, I recommend going in the morning or later in the evening, when it’s a bit cooler and more comfortable.

57. Have a Themed Dinner Week

Dinner can start to feel repetitive when you’re eating the same meals over and over. A fun way to switch things up is by having a themed dinner week. This can make weeknight meals more exciting and gives you something to look forward to. For example, you could do:

  • Meatless Monday
  • Taco Tuesday
  • Waffle Wednesday
  • Tortellini Thursday
  • Fried chicken Friday
  • Seafood Saturday
  • Sandwich Sunday

58. Make a Milkshake

For a cool and delicious treat, make a milkshake. All you need is ice cream, milk, and a blender. And for my lactose intolerant girlies, you can swap out regular ice cream and milk for lactose free options.

59. Start a Book Club With Friends

If one of your goals this summer is to read more, consider starting a small accountability group by creating a book club with your friends. You can all read the same book. Or read different books and use the group as motivation to finish your own reads.

Have a random act of kindness day where you intentionally do something nice for others. This could be paying for someone’s lunch, cleaning a family member’s home, or buying groceries for someone.

Last but not least, have a girls night in with your friends. You can do a sleepover, a movie night, or simply invite everyone over to hang out, talk, and enjoy each other’s company.
