Birthday Party Ideas for Teens

1. Pancakes and Pajamas Party

Arguably, a pajama party might be one of my favorite party dress codes. Because who doesn’t love staying in comfortable pajamas?

This type of party is super chill. However, you can make it as fancy or as casual as you want, based on your decorations and your food.

And a delicious food item that goes really well with pajamas is…. (Drum roll please…) pancakes!

If your pajama party is at night, you can do a “breakfast for dinner” menu. You can also set up a couple of different toppings, so that people can add them to their pancakes. Like whipped cream, sprinkles, syrup, and fresh fruits.

And if your party includes a sleepover, you can wake up the next morning and have a breakfast pancakes and pajamas.

2. Pizza and Pajamas Party

Another iconic food idea that pairs well with pajamas is pizza. From pepperoni to cheese and meat lovers, get a couple different pizza toppings and enjoy a cozy night munching on pizza slices.

And you can also incorporate some pajama party games and activities into your party. Like watching a movie, playing card games, and singing karaoke.

3. Brunch and Bouquet Teen Birthday Party

If you’re looking for birthday party ideas that can be done in the morning or early afternoon, try a brunch and bouquet party.

Your parents can serve brunch foods like eggs, bacon, and pancakes. And for a fun activity, set up a flower bar where you and your besties can make your own flower bouquets. (Plus, this doubles as a cute party favor)

4. Pool Birthday Party for Teens

If you have a pool in your backyard and your birthday lands in the summer, that’s a win-win because you can throw a pool party.

To make the pool area extra “party-ish”, add lots of pool floaties and balls inside the pool. And you can even decorate the pool area with a birthday banner.

For food, I like to keep things simple when it comes to a pool party. Simply because everyone is going to be swimming, so you don’t want too many heavy things. Sandwiches, fruits, burgers, hot dogs, chips, are some easy and delicious food ideas that you can offer.

5. Barbie Themed Birthday Party

The Barbie movie came out a couple years ago, and everyone was obsessed with all things Barbie and pink. And honestly, I love how Barbie is such a timeless character.

So if you still love pink and the girly vibes that Barbie brings, go for a Barbie themed birthday party.

6. Your Favorite Color Party

If you have a favorite color, lean into it! Grab party decorations in that color and make your whole party theme around it.

For example, if your favorite color is purple; you can decorate with purple balloons; have a purple cake; wear a purple outfit; and even set up a purple photo booth.

7. Bowling Birthday Party for Teens

If you want to go out with your friends and family, you can talk with your parents and see if a bowling party is a good fit.

Bowling within itself is a really fun activity and one of my favorite things to do with my friends. It’s casual, but it’s also great for celebrating different occasions like a birthday. Communicate with your parents, so that they can see if your local bowling alley offers party packages or deals.

An arcade party is another birthday party idea for teens. Similar to bowling and roller skating, you can reach out to your local arcade and book a party package. It often comes with food and lots of coins for your guests to use at the games.

And if it’s a small group of friends that you’re inviting to the arcade; then you can just go and play the games regularly.

With a fancy party theme, think of it like a regular birthday but with fancy decorations. On the topic of fancy and girly party themes, a rose gold party is another pretty option. I recently went to my niece’s Sweet 16 party, and she had a rose gold color theme; and it was so beautiful and glam.

There are so many ways to incorporate rose gold into your party, like using rose gold balloons, tablecloths, and other matching decorations.

15. Beach Birthday Party

If you live near the beach and are looking for an outdoor birthday party theme, consider having a beach birthday party.

21. Bracelet Making

When it comes to activities for a birthday party, especially when you’re looking for birthday party ideas for teens; you probably want something more than just music.

A really fun activity that you can do, is bracelet making with your friends. Your parents can find bracelet making kits online or at stores like Walmart. And the bracelets are super easy to make because the kit comes with everything you need.

22. Decorate Birthday Hats

Another fun birthday activity is DIY birthday hats. Just like bracelet making, this activity doubles as a great party favor that your guests can take home.

23. Paint Mini Canvases

Another arts and crafts for your party, is painting mini canvases. You can use regular paint or paint markers.

For mini canvases, I prefer paint markers. Since you’re not working with paint, you don’t need any paint brushes. So it’s less messy and it’s easier to clean up after everyone is done painting their canvases

24. Sing Karaoke

I couldn’t complete this list of birthday party ideas for teens without including karaoke! And let me tell you, you don’t even need a microphone, (though it’s fun if you have one). Just grab something to hold onto, and you and your friends and family can take turns singing your hearts out and putting on a fun performance.
